As a large country, France has multiple climates that lend themselves well to certain activities. The North and West of the country has a similar climate to the UK, good for farming with mild wet summers and winters. Temperatures may exceed 25 degrees Celsius. This is due to the presence of the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea, which provide plenty of moisture throughout the year. Towards the centre of the country, a continental climate exists. This is typified by hot summers and equally cold winters. Examples of this may be the US East Coast or Alberta in Canada.`Finally, the two most popular climate types in France are moutainous and mediterranean.

The mountainous climate exists around the Alps in the South East of the country, and the Pyrenees in the South West. This climate provides cooler summers, especially higher up the mountains along with snow and extreme colds during the winter. It is these conditions that attract a large amount of people with some of the premiere skiing resorts in Europe located in the region. Lastly, the mediterranean climate zone has dry hot summers with mild wet winters. Due to this and the various historical and opulent resorts along the south coast of France. The region is extremely popular with tourists from all income groups.
