The constitution of the United States is the highest law in the country. It is the source and limit on all the power of the national government of the United States of America. The ratification of the constitution allowed the national government to financially support and govern every state effectively.
To govern properly, three equally weighted sections of government were created that would be able to keep each other in check and not gain overt power. The House of Representatives is an area where the population is proportionally represented. Alternatively, the senate is a place where each state is represented evenly no matter the population. The final section is the president who oversees all of these.
Since the ratification of the constitution, it has been amended twenty seven times. It still remains an integral part of the United States government, especially the Bill of Rights; the first ten amendments of the constitution.
