FROGS AND FAIRYTALES

The idea that frogs can change into people is very popular in many cultures. The most famous story is that of the Frog Prince.

The story is simple:

A frog woos a princess and asks for a kiss. At first the princess is frightened and disgusted, but she feels sorry for the poor frog and kisses him. Suddenly, the frog is transformed into a handsome prince, and the prince and princess are married, living happily ever after.

Interestingly enough, this story has many early variations that are reversed. The frog or toad is a girl, and a young man must take the chance in order to discover a beautiful princess or bride.

Animals: I adore my pets and they bring me so much joy, but oh, the chores! Why can’t they clean up after themselves?

I earned my degree back in the early '90s, and as a lifelong learner, I continue to delve into the things I love. This includes technology (though I struggle to keep up!), art, early childhood education, history, and mythology as it relates to sociology.

I know that while the educational content on KidZone.ws is largely for kids, many of you visiting the site are educators and caregivers. I’ve tried to share some interesting trivia tidbits and fun facts to make your visit enjoyable too. Happy learning!
