Signs That Indicate a Person is Lying
What the Machine Records:
- A decrease in the subject’s electrical resistance in their skin
- An increase in blood pressure, volume or heart rate
- Abnormal breathing patterns
Physical Signs That a Person is Lying:
- Stiff facial expressions (seem to remain too long, are delayed or don’t reach the eyes)
- Significant amount of contact with their face (scratching, touching, rubbing their eyes)
- No eye contact/too much eye contact
- Placing objects in between themselves and their accuser
- Making indirect statements in order to avoid lying
Providing excess information which is not very relevant to the story
- Will avoid using contractions in order to seem more honest (“I did not” instead of “I didn’t”)
