France is a relatively large country located in Western Europe. It is part of the European Union and Eurozone. This means it is part of a large group of countries that have a shared deal for immigration, trade, government and currency. Officially the country is the Republic of France headed by the President and prime minister. The government is formed of the senate and national assembly and France is split into 27 districts for local administration.
France has an exceedingly long history and a complex geography. The country extends over multiple climates and borders many countries. Some of these include Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. Mountains cover a large portion of the borders, including Mont Blanc, the tallest mountains in Europe at 4,807 meters.
France has a population of 65 million, of which 81% live in urban environments. It is roughly twice the size of the American state of Colorado.
