Geometry Nets - Cubes

A cube is a three dimensional shape with six identical square sides.  All of its angles are right angles.  It is a type of square prism.

Dice are an example of cubes in real life.

Explore the cube by cutting out the cube geometry net, folding it and gluing the tabs.

Cube - Plain:  you can trace this onto decorative paper or decorate it as you see fit

Cube - cute faces:   (color)   or   (B&W)

Holiday Cubes:

Cube - Christmas:   (color)   or   (B&W)

Cube - Valentine's Day:   (color)   or   (B&W)

Cube characteristics:

  • a platonic solid (a three dimensional shape made up of identical two dimensional shapes with the same number meeting at every vertex)
  • 3 squares meet at each vertex (or corner)
  • 6 Faces
  • 8 Vertices
  • 12 Edges

Cube formulas:

Surface Area of a cube = 6 a 2        where a is the length of an edge

Volume of a cube = a 3                    where a is the length of an edge
