Rio Grande do Sul is the chief winemaking region of Brazil. It can be found at the South most tip of the country and shares a border with Uruguay and Argentina. During the colonial era, it was the site of some significant battles that created a dangerous atmosphere for all. Between 1872 and 1890, there was significant population expansion. The state is geographically diverse with plateaus, mountains and grasslands. The are four distinct seasons and Rio Grande do Sul is one of the most prosperous states.
