Emblem of Assam

The emblem of Assam state

Assam is popular for wildlife tourism, having saved the final Indian Rhinoceros and providing much of the remaining habitat for the Asian Elephant. It sits on the Brahmaputra river, a large water way that flows into Bangladesh. The river shapes much of the state once it exits the Himalayas. The state capital is Dispur.
