The emblem of Bihar state

Bihar is split in two by the Ganges river and is a mostly rural, with only 11% of the population in urban areas. Though once an area of learning and culture, Bihar now lags behind most of India in terms of social and economic development. The state capital is Patna and the state is the third most populous in India.
