Cats: Mating

The mating process for cats is very particular. It is the female who must choose as she is the one who tells the male she is ready.
For example, tigresses more frequently mark trees with their scents to let the male tigers know they are ready. Once a tiger comes into contact with a tigress, it becomes a very dangerous and delicate act. The female makes a distinct sound, like a small fluttering noise (much like a purr) and then rolls on her back to attract the male. Then she attacks him and strikes him with her sharp claws.
Talk about complicated!
